The Future Creation Laboratory conducts highly original
research in "HIKARI"-HI Technology, primarily focusing on four areas:Human Life,
Humanware, Optics and Nanotechnology and Ubiquitous energy. Closely linked,
these fields will yield new discoveries and values for the future.
Approaches taken from four research domains
`We explore what future generations
want and what universal values will be like in the future.`

Human Life
![]() |
In Human Life Research Domain, we are investigating the research on human mind and body, in order to enhance the well-being of humans and to seek greater lifestyle values for the future. |
Humanware
![]() |
Humanware is a framework to produce applications from human-centered perspectives in which human sensitivities, perceptions, and intelligence are integrated. Humanware covers devices, systems and solutions. It also includes ubiquitous systems and sensor networks if developed based on the above approach. |
Optics and Nanotechnology
![]() |
Optical technology is Olympus' core
technology. The precision processing technology that supports our
advanced optical elements are expanded from the micro-scale to nano-scale
level. We are also pushing back frontiers using our core technologies
to establish the basis for leading-edge optical devices and biosensing
devices based on nanostructures. Research details for Optics and Nanotechnology |
Ubiquitous Energy
![]() |
In future, a variety of battery-powered
electronic devices that can be carried, worn or embedded will be
part of our everyday life and contribute to improved quality of
life. We approach research by first undertaking projects on fuel
cell batteries and optimal use of power sources available for electronic
devices, with the goal of delivering ubiquitous energy solutions
which allow energy to be supplied to any electronic devices anywhere
and anytime. Research details for ubiquitous energy domain |
