The Future Creation Laboratory brings together researchers from diverse fields as well as academic and corporate research institutes to collaborate in a wide range of projects. Of course, all projects revolve around "people" and we are ready to offer our services and resources to these projects

Corporations have traditionally funded and commissioned research by universities and research institutes in specific areas. Such commissioned and contracted research has been the popular form of joint academic-corporate research, but the Future Creation Laboratory takes a different approach.

Our joint research is based on the exchange of people, technology, and knowledge: we send our staff to the partner research institute and invite their staff to work on our premises in return. The important point is the results, not necessarily where the particular research is conducted. At Olympus, possible venues include our partner's site or a third-party research organization. We choose the best environment for the particular research so that in the spirit of true joint research, we can produce the optimum results for mutual benefit.

Our joint research takes many forms: through partnerships with individual researchers as well as in cooperation with university laboratories and corporate research institutes. Flexibility is the key, and at The Future Creation Laboratory we ensure that the most efficient and comfortable research environment will be provided for our research partners.

The Future Creation Laboratory has a flat organization in which everyone on a research team reports directly to the director at the center. We believe this flat organization promotes greater freedom and efficiency of research by minimizing time-consuming tasks such as decision-making and reporting. This versatile and dynamic organization allows teams to be easily formed with other members or institutes and then reorganized depending on the needs of the particular project.
